Ripple Product Manager Craig DeWitt has revealed the launch of the beta version of Payburner, a P2P payment platform based on XRP.

According to the announcement, Payburner will include features such as payment requests with encrypted peer-to-peer message, integration with the universal payment identifier PayID and a 1-click purchase feature for e-commerce.

Payburner will integrate with the PayID payment identifier and payment requests with encrypted peer-to-peer messages.

How to use the XRP based payment platform?

Interested users can now follow this link and download the beta version of the plug-in from the official website. At time of publication, however, Payburner only works with the Brave and Chrome browsers. More browsers and applications for iOS/Android are planned to be added in the future.

During the registration stage, users will be able to create a PayID account or use an existing one to share and make payments from any wallet that supports PayID. After downloading the plug-in, users will be required to create an account and choose the option that allows them to deposit funds to a new account with an invitation code. Then, users have to send XRP to the created account. However, users should be warned that the platform only receives a maximum of 22 XRP for the initial payment to activate the account.

Just like previous versions of Payburner, the Payburner plug-in is a non-custodial wallet. In other words, the user is his own bank. This means that the plug-in does not have access to the key and passwords, but neither can they recover account details if they are lost.

At the same time, the e-commerce feature for 1-click payments is enabled for the xSongs.store and spud.store. The Product Manager for Ripple invited users to test it and enter one of the mentioned platforms after installing the plug-in. In addition, users can enable the feature for any website using the Payburner Paybuttons. About this feature, DeWitt stated the following:

For merchants who wish to integrate the function, the Product Manager for Ripple clarified that the process takes about 20 minutes to complete. There is no registration process and the plug-in will not ask for any banking information. In that regard, DeWitt announced that the plug-in made its first integration to WordPress with WooCommerce and can now be integrated into any WordPress powered website.

Finally, the Product Manager for Ripple gave details on the Payburner business model. DeWitt said they expect to make a profit of a 1% fee for the e-commerce function. However, there will be no fees for sending or requesting peer-to-peer payments.
